Polaris

Polaris IT Solutions was founded in Chapel Hill in 2010 to give small organizations access to senior technical judgment without requiring a full-time engineer.

Most of the work has been infrastructure: networks, servers, storage, identity, and the moves and migrations between them for nonprofits, practices, and small companies across the Triangle. That work continues. Along the way, software became part of the practice when a client's problem did not have a sensible off-the-shelf answer.

Polaris is a consultancy, not a managed service provider or reseller. It stays deliberately small and takes on only the clients it can know well. The work is documented so a client's knowledge of its own systems never depends on keeping Polaris.

Esse quam videri

To be, rather than to seem. It is North Carolina's motto, and a useful standard for the work: make it correct whether or not anyone is looking, and describe it plainly whether or not the description is flattering.

Luke founded Polaris and does the technical work. He assesses, designs, builds, writes, and stands behind the result. His name is on every engagement, and he reads what comes to inquiries@polarisitsolutions.com himself.

Nicole handles the books and administration.
